The Hate U Give Passes

Starring Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, and Russel Hornsby, Starr Carter (Stenberg) is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer.  Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. THE HATE U GIVE is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, with Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Common and Anthony Mackie.

Movie Scene Queen and 20th Century Fox is hosting a special, advance screening of THE HATE U GIVE for Tuesday, September 25 at AMC Waterfront 22 at 7:30 PM. Please comment below with your favorite high school moment.  My four years at the infamous Schenley High School were AMAZING!  There was an unique sense of brotherhood for anyone who had the honor of being a Spartan!

Much Love,

  1. I went to an all girls school with many fond memories. We were uniforms everyday, which had to be below our knees. I remember walking to school and rolling up my skirt so when the boys going to the all boys high school would pass we would not look like nerds. Lol. When we got to school it was not uncommon for the nuns to make us kneel down, if our skirts did not touch the floor we were in trouble. I actually loved going to high school a lot of happy memories.

  2. As a 15 year old black female I walked into an all-black school for the first time in my life. I was afraid, I was very unsure of what to expect based on what I heard, what I was told and my own preconceived notions. What I found out is that the kids at that school was no different than the white kids at the school I have previously come from, and that people are people regardless of color the only difference is is that I was with people who looked like me, who shared similar experiences, and who had more in common with me than I realized.

  3. …. High school that was so long ago. When I run into people now that I went to school with I’m always shocked that they remember me….

  4. Everyday at Schenley was a memory. Some of my favorites were senior night at the football game, all city choir, prom, and graduation.

  5. I have a few moments about high school I wonder forget. Being my friends that i’m still close with, being my husband there, pep rallies, high school games. I emotions love to take my daughter to this see this movie as well.
